Yoga Myths That Deserve a Gentle Namaste and Goodbye

Because it’s time to part ways with what’s holding us back from the real magic of yoga

1. “Yoga is only for flexible people.”

Let’s clear this up: Yoga builds flexibility — it doesn’t require it. Come as you are; the mat accepts you fully.

2. “It’s just stretching.”

Not quite. Yoga is a union of breath, body, and mind. Yes, there are stretches — but there’s also strength, balance, and deep inner work.

3. “You have to be spiritual or chant to do it right.”

Yoga meets you wherever you are. You don’t need to chant, believe in anything, or sit cross-legged for hours. Your breath is enough.

4. “It’s not for older adults or beginners.”

Yoga is beautifully inclusive — kids, elders, beginners, and everyone in between. There’s a version of yoga for every body.

5. “You need the perfect outfit, mat, and setup.”

The perfect yoga gear? It’s just you and your willingness to begin. The rest is optional, not essential.

6. “If I can’t practice every day, it’s not worth it.”

Even 10 minutes matter. Yoga isn’t about how much you do — it’s about how you show up.

7. “You’re not doing it right unless you can do headstands.”

Yoga isn’t a performance. It’s presence. If you’re breathing with awareness, you're doing it right.

Let’s let these myths go with a deep exhale and a kind Namaste. Yoga isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection.

Until then,
